Apple’s iPhone

January 10th, 2007 · 1 Comment

Apple introduced the iPhone on Tuesday.

iPhone combines three products — a revolutionary mobile phone, a widescreen iPod with touch controls, and a breakthrough Internet communications device with desktop-class email, web browsing, maps, and searching — into one small and lightweight handheld device.

One word describes this device: NICE.

what I like

  • it’s an iPod - a very cool looking iPod
  • 3.5-inch widescreen display
  • slick touch-screen interface
  • built-in 2 megapixel camera
  • 11.6 mm thin
  • battery life - 5 hrs for phone, video, internet; 16 hrs for audio playback

what I don’t like

  • it’s a cell phone
  • 2 yr contract with Cingular (I use Verizon)
  • only 4 or 8GB of storage
  • it’s expensive ($600 for the 8GB model)

The iPod is really the only thing that interests me here. But even though this may be the true “video” iPod everyone’s been waiting for, 8GB is not a lot of storage space for videos. And I’m not a big fan of cell phones, so I feel I wouldn’t be getting my money’s worth here.
