I’m so late with this. Life continues it’s crazy pace, and it’s a struggle to keep up. Lolo and Lola visited a couple of weeks ago, their first visit since June 2009. Sophia obviously didn’t remember them, but it didn’t take long for her to warm up to them. They were here to help celebrate Sophia’s 2nd birthday, and I don’t think Sophia would have it any other way. She’s shown them she knows her colors, looks for buses whenever she’s in the car, loves the Backyardigans, and can’t wait to go to Walt Disney World. She was sad by the time Lolo and Lola left, and each day since, she looks and asks for them. Fortunately, they’ll be visiting again along with Sophia’s cousin Jasmine later this summer.

Sophia’s 2nd birthday is just around the corner. Little girl is quite talkative; mostly jibber jabber, but she seems to know what she’s talking about (I’ll try to post video of a cute conversation she had with her mother). Some key words for her are “bus”, “juice”, “milk”, “cookie” (sounds like “kiki”), “go”, and her favorite: “bubbles”. Click on the image for her latest photo set.

So far, 2010 has proven to be a very busy year. I’m involved with the biggest project of my career (new clinical system for the hospital), and it’s dictating a very hectic, chaotic, and at times, frantic pace. CL is also working a crazy schedule; not a lot of time is spent together. Unfortunately, I’ve not taken advantage of these few moments to take pictures. We did have the good fortune of taking Sophia to her first Disney show, Disney Live! Mickey’s Rockin’ Road Show at the Chaifetz Arena in St. Louis yesterday. It was a test to see if Sophia is ready for these kinds of shows as well as a prep for our planned trip to Walt Disney World later this year. We weren’t sure if it would be too loud, or if the occasional darkness would be scary, or if she would be intimated by all the people. Turns out, the answers are “no”, “no”, and “no”! Sophia loved every bit of it. She recognized most of the characters, and she danced and clapped with enthusiasm. Click on her picture for her latest photo set including those from the Disney show.

Here is Sophia’s latest photo set (click on the image above). She is very active, walking, almost running. Sophia can identify things by pointing, and she knows what you’re talking about when you ask her something. She’s also quite the little worker bee; she’ll put things in the trash if you ask her to, and Grandma has her doing the floors in her kitchen. In these photos, you’ll see Sophia when she was in the ER with the flu, trying her hand at Beatles Rock Band, posing for the fall, and in her Halloween costume (despite not trick-or-treating this year).

Click on the image to see the latest of our little girl. Sophia’s doing well in the toddler room of her daycare. Her teachers say she talks a lot and plays hard. That probably explains the better nights we’ve been having at home, much so that she’s not relying on the bottle anymore. Sophia is a big Toy Story fan too (don’t think she can sit through the upcoming 3D double feature, though). I introduced this to her several weeks back, and I’ve seen it more times than I have collectively since it was released 14 years ago. Sophia waves “Hi” and “Bye” now (as opposed to opening and closing a fist). In fact, when we go places, she waves to everyone she sees. What a sweet girl!
